Le fait du jour – an/année

an / année :   it’s easy with numbers!

If the “year” word   comes with a cardinal number (one, two, etc.) then use un an; if it   comes with an ordinal number (first, second, etc.) use une année. (does   not work for jour/journée; matin/matinée; soir/soirée).

Over to you: How do   you say the following in French?

  •   I have been studying French for 10 years.
  •   It’s my 5th year in Dominique’s class.
Réponse à la question d’hier :

  •   Il pleuvait le jour où il est né.
  •   Nous avons passé une journée relax au bord de la piscine.
